With the forecast predicting snow for the weekend, and knowing that the next couple of weeks would be a whirlwind due to moving, I decided to take the kids on a very spontaneous nature hike, very spontaneous - notice Ellie and Lexi in flip flops (I didn't think we would hike so far up!) We had the best time being together and taking our time looking at all the leaves and enjoy the fresh, crisp autumn air. The kids loved collecting leaves and I was surprised at the variety, 28 different kinds! It was one of those afternoons that makes you feel very satisfied, and helps you remember what is important, and what is not - I admit I need those reminders often in my life, things can get so chaotic and it is easy to get caught up in the thick of thin things. I think more often I will take time to smell the roses.... or look at the leaves!
